PeriShip’s weather experts provide informed and insightful updates on current weather patterns as well as predictive analytics for severe weather systems that may impact your shipments.
Our proprietary weather tools include daily and weekly weather outlook email alerts, weather forecasts for major transit hubs, and weather alerts for severe weather conditions. We assess the impact weather systems will have on transit networks in real-time, and quickly inform you of the meteorological challenges.
Daily Weather Outlook
For PeriShip Premium subscribers, from Sunday through Thursday, a daily weather outlook is issued by 4:00 p.m. (ET). These reports provide detailed weather forecasts for main sorting hubs for the following shipping day. The report includes:
- Operational impact index – a four-tier scale used to communicate the potential impact a weather event may have on the transit network.
- General surface weather map and discussion – a detailed map depicting weather fronts and systems impacting conditions across the country for the following day. This includes precipitation forecasts.

Weekly Weather Outlook
The Weekly Weather Outlook is issued by 4:00 p.m. (ET) every Friday and provides a general overview of the weather for the following week for each of the main sorting hubs. The content is focused on impactful weather events which includes:

General weather map and discussion – illustrates forecasted weather patterns for the upcoming week and includes periods of potential concern.

High temperature forecast map – provides information for shipments with a Monday delivery date.
Major Storm Desk
When upcoming weather events such as winter storms or hurricanes may have a significant impact on the potential for parcels to be delivered by the expected commitment date, PeriShip provides a list of zip codes where it is recommended to delay shipping time and temperature-sensitive products until the weather event clears. This information can help you make informed decisions for time-sensitive and perishable shipments.
