Holiday Shipping Season Final Preparations

As the holiday shipping season approaches, we want to express our gratitude for choosing Periship as your preferred value-added service provider.

At PeriShip, we understand the unique requirements and expectations that come when shipping perishable commodities. When shipment exceptions occur, timely identification and communication to all stakeholders is critical to the customer experience. As you gear up with your holiday shipments, rest assured that we are here to help provide you with the tools and information you need to find success this season. To lessen the impact of any transit events that may occur, here are some things that you and your recipients can do:

Packaging

Packing your product is critically important and serves as the foundation of your perishable shipping program. Please take proper action to pre-condition products and boxes, and pack with enough coolant to allow for an extra day of transit. Take steps to minimize void space and ensure the airbill is properly affixed to the shipment. Placing a few strips of clear tape over the airbill is highly recommended.

PeriShip Labels

PeriShip labels should be used properly to ensure your shipments have visibility while transiting the network. Please apply 2 labels, one on top (same side as airbill) and one on the side of the package, unless you have smaller packages that accommodate only one label.

Signature Required Orders

Orders with a declared value of $500.00 and above require a signature upon receipt. Please verify at the point of sale that someone will be at the address all day to receive the order. The same also applies for orders that are processed where you require a signature. If the courier is not able to obtain a signature on the first attempt, the PeriShip team will proactively reach out to the recipient and work to find an alternative solution to complete delivery. Depending on the timing, this may add an additional day of transit time.

Multi-Unit Dwellings and Urban Areas

If the recipient’s delivery address is destined to a multi-unit dwelling such as a condominium, apartment complex, or urban area, please make the recipient aware that the package may not be released in certain markets. We wouldn’t want the shipment damaged or stolen. A good option when trying to avoid a delivery exception is to ship to the recipient’s work address or to the local station where they can pick up the package.

System and Local Weather

The Periship Meteorology team is working 24/7 and proactively monitoring the FedEx Network and local weather to identify potential impacts. We encourage you to monitor both the weekly look ahead as well as the daily updates, as needed. Depending on your requirements, shipping ahead of a major storm or delaying shipments by a day can reduce risk exposure.

System Status Updates

Your assigned Account Specialist will provide daily shipment status updates. Ahead of the daily updates, you will receive a system status update early each day. We encourage you to monitor as It will contain the most current information about the status of the network and what to expect for that day.

Customer Portal

As a Periship customer, you have access to a secure customizable customer portal, available online 24/7/365. This tool provides real-time visibility and tracking of flight and hub operations. While we think the portal is awesome, we also have other communication channels available. Please call or email if you have any questions outside of the information available in the portal.

As we enter the holiday season, if you need any assistance or if you have any special shipping requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us. We at PeriShip are dedicated to ensuring that your holiday shipping season goes as smoothly and flawlessly as possible.
